LinkedIn is a social networking tool catered towards business entirely. It was first introduced in Dec 2002 and founded in May 2002. Its main use is professional networking. As of April LinkedIn had more than 65 million registered users, spanning more than 200 countries and territories worldwide, it is available in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish
The membership grows by a new member approximately every second. About half of the members are in the United States and 11 million are from Europe. With 3 million users, India is the fastest-growing country as of 2009. The purpose of the site is to allow registered users to maintain a list of contact details of people they know and trust in business. The people in the list are called Connections who are users known through other users. Users can invite anyone to become a connection which proves to be a very useful networking tool.
LinkedIn is a tool that is very useful in networking because of its simple to use commands and ease of communications. It is a simple way to get in touch with any kind of business person you can imagine.
